And the ultrasound says......

ITS ANOTHER BOY! :) I just giggled and giggled. My house is gonna smell like gym socks for many years!

So. You be the judge. Basketball team or boyband?

Whirlwind, please chill out.

Where do I begin!? Life has been soooo busy lately! Doesn't it always seem that way around the holidays? Should be the opposite! I want to sit in a clean, boxless house and sip cocoa with the Jarebare!

That said, yes we are in the new house! SO happy to have graduated from the tiny 2 bedroom townhome. What's funny though is that even though we have 3 bedrooms upstairs, all the boys are still cramming themselves into one room. :) Brothers are awesome.

I am really looking forward to this weekend! Its the performance of Handel's Messiah that I am participating in. I wish I could possibly communicate what I feel after singing this music for 3 years running... it is without a doubt inspired music. When the choir sings those words from Isaiah, I feel like the Heavens open for a minute and we sing with angels. I can barely get through the song "Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs" from Isaiah 53:4. PLEASE listen to that song! It is so extraordinary how Handel uses those words and with melody and harmony he takes us from words to wisdom...

Take a listen here:

And note the words!! Especially when they sing "...for ooooooourrr iiiiiiniquities!" Ugh! Kills me every time!

Surely He hath borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows
Surely, surely
He hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows.

He
Was wounded for our transgressions.
He
Was bruised
He
Was bruised
For our iniquities.

The chastisement of our peace
Was upon Him!

Please come out and experience this amazing music this Sunday at 7...

Craft du jour. Or year, in my case.

I never make anything!!! But I did today, thanks to the lovely and stylish Sarah Most. She found instructions to add a flower embellishment to a plain T-shirt online. So we gave it a go, and here are the results.

I made the grey one.... And its not quite finished. We may wear them sometime and show off the results. :)

Random Gratitude

Tonight I am missing Jared, aka The JareBare, aka JB. He is off on a business trip. I was enjoying looking at some of our old photos and thought I would share this one...Looking at this photo makes me grateful for two things.

1. The JB.

2. That 90's high-waisted, huge pocket pants are a thing of the past.

Its been a great (read: LONG) summer!

OK so I am hiding in my room. There is something about the 5 o'clock hour that makes me feel like yelling "THE KITCHEN IS CLOSED!" I know these mommy burn out moments are just that...moments. But yikes!!!

And I have a fun pic to share. I wanted to get the boys all some new shoes for school so I took them over to Journey's at the mall. I let the gal help them pick out the shoes they liked and figure out sizes and then I said, "OK, now you know our style and sizes, would you be willing to go in the back and find me a smokin' deal on some shoes??" She smiled and disappeared in the back. So instead of paying $12o for 3 new pairs of shoes, we got this awesome little set of kicks for $10 each, plus I added funky laces. :)

"They do not love that never show their love..."

http://broadcast.lds.org/genconf/2008/10/40/GC_2008_10_411_MonsonTS__04903_eng_.mp3

This audio recording of President Thomas S. Monson's recent General Conference address is both filling my soul and pricking my conscience tonight.  Wonderful.  Take a listen...

I love this quote..." It is always our choice which [of our] secret gardens we will attend..."

I did it!

I sang at my first real deal public gig last night!  I did about 20 songs.  Mostly jazz.  I was surprised by how nervous I wasn't... I think I get more nervous at church.  Maybe that's because I know I will see church people again. :)   Steak house peeps... not so likely to see again. hehe

Thanks to the world's most amazing guitar player, Dillon Hodges for inviting me to sing.  Look him up!  He's literally the best of the best and he is 18!!

Things that crack me up when I ought to be in bed

This is a silly SnorgTee - made me laugh.

Me n the JareBare have also been cracking up at urbandictionary.com tonight. For instance:

Cobra Yawn: The involuntary spraying of saliva while yawning. Much like the venom spray from a cobra. In most cases the yawner doesn't realized it has happened only finding the aftermath once the yawn is over.
I just cobra yawned all over my keyboard five minutes prior to writing this definition.

And...

Involuntary "You too":  When out of habit you reply to a comment with "You too". This happens to the best of us.  Two common situations of the Involuntary "You Too"

Girl: Well happy birthday man. Have fun at Sea World tomorrow.

Guy: Thanks, you too.

**uncomfortable silence**

Parent: Drive safe and have fun.

Son: Ok you too.

**uncomfortable silence**

Also...

Aisle Salmon:  The act of moving in the opposite direction of everyone else using the aisle. While they can be spotted in any type of aisle, they are frequently seen on airlines during loading and deplaning.
Did you see the 'aisle salmon' trying to work his way back five rows to get a roller bag our of the overhead while everyone was trying to get off the plane?

:) Sleepy time.

This weekend was one that I knew would someday come, but still one that I was unprepared for. My grandma Annie Jarvis Osborn passed away on May 30th and I flew to Arizona for her funeral. She was 92 years old.

I have thought a lot lately about her life and about the lives of several others of my ancestors. There seems to be a common thread...they are all tough cookies. Jared and I paid her a visit a few years back. We arrived at her house at dusk and could see someone outside digging trenches around the sprinklers. I could not believe it when I realized it was Grandma Osborn! We were in shock to see her working so hard at her age! After the shock, admiration. After that, a deep desire to emulate. I so badly want to be strong and enduring like her, hard working and capable. I want to be a tough cookie too.

I can't believe...

...that I have lived in Nashville for over 2 years and Friday was the first time I have ever been to the Bluebird Cafe (which I always call the Bluebird Theater, a holdover from my Denver days)!  Marabeth invited me to go and we heard some amazing songwriters, including the great Mr. Tom Worth.
